CBS Fall 2008 Lineup

The television upfronts continue; this time it’s CBS’ turn at the podium for a look at their fall lineup, designed specifically to attract more female viewers. Okay… A number of casualties, most notably the fan favorite Moonlight, make room for new one-hour series The Ex-List (a tarot card reading lets a woman know she needs to marry by year’s end to a man already in her life), The Mentalist, Jerry Bruckheimer’s Eleventh Hour, and sitcoms Worst Week and Jay Mohr’s Project Gary. The big news is that the network has held onto Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ New Adventures of Old Christine, which moves from Monday to Wednesday to front a one-hour comedy block preceding Criminal Minds and CSI: New York. Seriously?! Nothing like a comedy appetizer leading into two hours of crime drama. Meanwhile, they are also holding onto Rules of Engagement as a mid-season replacement show, should either of the new comedies fall flat, or should low ratings dictate a schedule shuffle.

I’m super excited to see that The Unit was not only renewed for a fourth season, but also moved to Sunday nights at 10. That’s a great slot for it.

#2 Christie Rosado on 05.19.08 at 8:29 am

This is such a joke. Are you kidding me. This is what CBS cancelled Moonlight for. The Ex List. Screw the Ex-List. Any pathetic women that are watching this show have there own problems. Bring Moonlight back. Moonlight is a great show! I refuse to watch this ridiculous network anymore. I’m tired of the crap that keep and then they turn around and cancel the only good show they have on the air.

#3 Carlos Robledo on 05.22.08 at 12:50 pm

This must be a joke you cancell Moonlight for what? i agree with Christie, im tired of the crap that CBS keeps and turn around and cancell the good stuff. You have always done great with supernatural stuff (Ghost Whispere) goin on 4 or 5 seasons now, and spiritial stuff like (Touch by an angel) they said this wouldnt last and it did 8 seasons, cmont ask for a little heavely help CBS do it now before its too late

#4 Cpatain Lou on 05.22.08 at 3:41 pm

CBS has sense enough to bring back The Unit… HOORAY! I am disappointed that they cancelled Shark, though.

#5 d2w on 05.23.08 at 6:46 am

What about Jericho? It was a great show and CBS just left it hanging. I would like to see it come back!

#6 Dale Alexander on 05.23.08 at 12:02 pm

Keep “old christine” and the big bang - Dumb and Dumber. Shark and Moonlight were great and I see this is a way for CBS to accelerate their race from 1st to last.

#7 Earl on 05.25.08 at 10:41 am

Are you going to have the second season of Dexter on CBS this fall!

#8 mstailey on 05.25.08 at 10:46 am

There has been no announcement made about Dexter: Season 2, but my guess is it’s being kept in reserve should the new schedule need a bailing out in early to mid 2009.

#9 Lyndsey on 05.25.08 at 10:23 pm

This is ridiculous-I’ve never liked CBS until Moonlight, and they are taking it off the schedule?! I can’t believe it! It beat Private Practice for the people’s choice award, and that show is coming back! How am I going to get my vampire fix while we wait for more Stephenie Meyer books to come out?!

#10 Brandi on 05.26.08 at 5:00 pm

As much as I like the Unit I will not be watching anything on CBS however if another station takes on Moonlight I will follow. CBS made a horrible mistake when they canceled Moonlight.

#11 Rachel on 05.26.08 at 5:50 pm

Survivor is the only good show on CBS.

#12 Marquita on 05.26.08 at 6:50 pm

I’ve had it with CBS! How dare they cancel Moonlight and Jericho. My two favorite shows. I can no longer support CBS and refuse to watch any new shows in the future. I’ve been disappointed one time to many. The Mentalist? Really? Sounds like a winner.

#13 beccachick on 05.27.08 at 7:37 am

I’m just glad “How I met your Mother” is coming Back. I liked “Rules of Engagement”, but guess keeping one of my shoes is enough.

#14 Kat on 05.27.08 at 6:32 pm

I can’t believe they’re canceling Moonlight! That was the only show I watched on Fridays. I hope another network is smart enough to pick it up. Obviously, it has a huge following and I don’t know what CBS could possibly be thinking by canceling it. Oh wait, I know, let’s lose a huge percent of our viewers! What a way to run a network. I thought they were trying to target female viewers not make them find another network to watch….

#15 mstailey on 05.28.08 at 1:04 pm

“Rules of Engagement” has been given a half season pickup for midseason 2009.

#16 JULI on 05.28.08 at 1:20 pm

IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE THAT CBS CANCELLED SHARK…IT WAS TOO INTELLIGENT FOR THE MASSES? IT HAD EVERYTHING…DRAMA, WARMTH, HUMOR…WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE????????

#17 Sheen on 05.29.08 at 11:37 am

I LOVE MOONLIGHT! Why did you not list it in the fall line-up? There is not much CBS has to brag about. NCIS, Ghost Whisper, and Moonlight are about it. PLEASE give it back! I look forward to watching tv on Friday because of G. Whisper & Moonlight!!!!!!!!!!!!!PS reality shows and your idea of comady are not my idea of entertainment. I’d rather clean the garage!

#18 Missy on 05.31.08 at 6:38 pm

I’m glad I am not the only one who is excited about The Unit but extremely disappointed about Moonlight! I love Moonlight and it was wonderfully paired with Ghost Whisperer. I looked forward to my Friday night recording all week long! Seriously, how many chances are they gonna give Old Christine before they decide it’s the Cancelled Christine?! CBS: you need to re-think the Moonlight decision unless CBS stands for Crazy Boring Stuff.

#19 Tracy on 06.01.08 at 8:50 am

Can you please bring back Moonlight?

#20 Dahr Prince on 06.01.08 at 5:18 pm

canceling Moonlight for some pathetic show about women who can’t make a decision on their own without CBS’s help, are you kidding me. Get a freakin life lady’s! I guess we’ll have to think of something else to send CBS besides peanuts for them to give a crap about what the fans want. I will watch ABC when the Ex List is on that is for sure. Wake up CBS, fans want Moonlight not dumb women and shows about marriage. I am a college student not a loser, only loser’s would want to watch the Ex List over Moonlight.

#21 BStovall on 06.02.08 at 11:13 am

Thank God they brought back the unit i felt like i had lost a best friend Thank you CBS

#22 wwilli9510 on 06.02.08 at 5:28 pm

You always cancel the good shows like Moonlight and Shark . Please bring these shows back.

#23 BillRaw on 06.02.08 at 9:39 pm

The Exec at CBS that canned Moonlight should be fired. I enjoyed the show. The could move the Ex-List to go up against Extreme Home Make Over and call it the Amazing Ex-List. Moonlight hits a vein with people, bring it back.

#24 Pat on 06.06.08 at 12:55 pm

I LOVE their lineup! All the shows we watch are here - NCIS, The Unit, Num3ers, CSI, Survivor, Amazing Race, and HIMYM. I can’t wait for the Mentalist. It looks great from the previews. We really don’t watch any other network.

#25 AJ on 06.06.08 at 3:45 pm

I was upset that CBS cancelled Close to Home for Moonlight. But, after I watched Moonlight, I was hooked. This has to be one of the stupidest decisions that they have ever made. Also, Shark was an amazing show. Friday night had turned into that “ghostly, vampirely” type of night. Let’s relpace vampire with tarot cards…WOW…bad decision CBS!!!!! Don’t piss off your viewers. It won viewers choice for god sakes!!!

#26 Pat on 06.08.08 at 10:49 am

What kind of idiots are running CBS? Cancelling Moonlight is one of the stupidest things yet. I enjoyed Shark also. I had even given up my Friday night eating out, so I could be home to watch. Outback, here I come.

#27 Anne Kotlarz on 06.09.08 at 6:29 am

Just wanted to say that I am very disappointed with CBS, I can’t believe that they cancelled Moonlight, it was one of the best shows in all of television I thought. I can’t believe that they putting some dumb show about a woman and her tarot cards, come oooooon, who is going to watch that. Moonlight was a totally awesome show, it was my friday night line-up, first Moonlight and then Numbers I could hardly wait for Friday nights, now it will probably be NBC for me.

#28 Heidi on 06.09.08 at 6:41 pm

I’m disappointed to see that Rules of Engagement won’t be on regularly; I love that show!

#29 Tee on 06.10.08 at 7:19 am

My family and friends are upset that Shark is not coming back. We really enjoyed that show.

#30 Elise on 06.10.08 at 8:48 am

I hate that Shark was cancelled. That is one of the best shows on TV..James Woods is great in that as well as all the other supporting cast… Who ever made that decision, did not make a good one..at least in my opinion…

#31 Maryann on 06.10.08 at 4:20 pm

I loved Shark, and never missed Moonlight! That’s it–I am not watching any new network shows–too annoying when they’re cancelled the next season for some dumb “reality” show. Netflix will have another new customer.

#32 twilightwitch on 06.10.08 at 8:29 pm

Moonlight! Enough said. Vampire Solidarity, Rah, Rah, Rah.

#33 JOY on 06.11.08 at 9:03 am

I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY CANCELLED MONLIGHT!!! THEY JUST GOT US HOOKED ONTO MICK AND BETH AND THEN THEY ARE GOING TO PULL IT!!! FIRST SARAH IS NO LONGER ON CSI AND NOW THIS!!! IF IT WASNT FOR GHOST WHISPERER AND SURVIVOR I WOULDNT EVEN WATCH CBS

#34 patrick on 06.11.08 at 2:39 pm

bring back moonlight on a saturday night i will definately wtch

#35 Jackie on 06.11.08 at 8:02 pm

I used to enjoy watching CBS on Friday night. Well I guess we are done with regular channel. Who cancels a show that so many like. You brought back Jericho then take it away. Get a clue. I’m done CBS your no longer on my favorite list. Who actually runs that place people who don’t watch TV.

#36 T.V.GURU on 06.11.08 at 11:37 pm

Like it matters, Here is my take on the “New” CBS fail, Oh excuse the typo, lol, fall line up. Lets look at Mondays, Worst week ever? How about worst night ever? CBS hasn’t had a Good Monday night since King of Queens & Raymond departed the line up, period. Next up Tuesday, smart move moving “Trace” to this night trying to bat clean up for a night of NCIS and the new kid on the “mental” block. This night might end up being the dark horse to slip in to the contender gate. On to Wednesday, first let me ask the question I know that is on everyone’s little criminal minds? Where do I send the flowers because “Gary” is D.O.A., what are they thinking? Leading in to these crime dramas with an hour block of a failing Christine and a new Gary. Hey CBS, put on an old pair of shoes before you shoot yourself in the foot! This may even hurt the 2 comeback kids of the night. In case you forgot, the idea is to get MORE viewers. Now for Thursday, what can I say? Well lets start with Survivor. Survivor, it is time to take yourself off the Island/Outback/Rainforrest or whatever Local you are shooting in because you are making us dumber by the Thursday. This show has not been fresh since the end of season 3, we have had our fill. Want a hit show? Place a action or suspense in that slot leading into C.S.I. and a hit will be born, or at least a chance to live. Now Friday, o.k., I’ll give you Ghost Wisperer but removing “Moonlight” from the list, major mistake. Very, Very popular show for the fans. Remember a little show you had at one time called “Dallas”, well maybe not that popular but a very very popular show. Almost an insult canceling this one and keeping “Numbers”. What are you thinking? No seriously, What are you thinking? Want raitings? Start with Ghost wisp, then Moonlight and end with “Shark”, yes I said Shark (another one on the gone list). Now for Sat. This has forever been a hard night to get the neilsons attention so go with original CBS “NEW” movies targeting the 40 plus audience to begin with and close it with 48 hours, thats a done deal baby. Watch the raitings rise! OR stick with what you got and get your butts kicked by repeats of Law & Order or something else on the Peacock station. And last but not least “Sunday” all you have to do is switch “Race” and “Unit” and watch the talley rise. LIKE A WISE MAN ONE SAID
“ALL IN ALL REMEMBER THE AUDIENCE RUNS THE SHOW, IF THEY DIDN’T THERE WOULD BE NO SHOW.”
Who said that?
Well, that would be me,
The “T.V. Guru”

#37 mazey on 06.12.08 at 8:32 am

Now that Moonlighting is gone CBS has lost again. So tired of all of the reality shows (live is enough for me, care to look at gas prices) They had Friday nights all laid out,( can’t afford to go anywhere why not watch the best night on t.v) oh that’s right NOT WORTH WAYCHING NOW, like someone else said HELLO NETFLIX.

#38 Suzanne on 06.13.08 at 3:28 pm

I have watched CBS religiously for years, but you made a big mistake by getting rid of Moonlight and Jericho. Who mades these dumb decisions that cost you viewers? Goodbye CBS

#39 A Shaver on 06.13.08 at 4:06 pm

I’m sorry to see Moonlight go, an engaging program with charming leading characters. I believe this is a mistake.

#40 melissa on 06.13.08 at 7:35 pm

NOT HAPPY ABOUT MOONLIGHT BEING CANCELLED>>>>Not a VERY WISE DECISION CBS!!!!! I am extremely disappointed in your lack of judgement on cancelling this show! Are you a network that wishes to attract viewers or lose them!!!

#41 Trina on 06.14.08 at 5:42 pm

I can’t believe all you have done CBS. First Sarah leaves CSI, and now Warwick is not coming back. Then you cancel Moonlight and Shark and Rules of Engagement is only coming on for 1/2 a season. And I can’t believe you are bringing Old Christine back, how aweful!!! What are you going to cancel next, Ghost Whisperer or maybe the CSI’s. You guys are getting ridiculous with your line-up. And I agree with some of the other comments, the REALITY SHOWS are getting REAL OLD!!!

#42 Connie on 06.15.08 at 2:43 pm

I am sooo glad they are keeping The Amazing race—best show ever–please keep it going CBS!

#43 Tania on 06.18.08 at 2:06 pm

I really hope another network picks Moonlight up for 2009 - it was a GREAT SHOW!

Bad decision CBS…
Another bad decision was cancelling women’s murder club….

#44 Margie on 06.20.08 at 8:30 pm

I’m a big Moonlight fan as well. It was the show that brought me back to CBS. That line-up on Friday night made me stay home and watch TV. Guess I’ll be going to the movies on Friday nights again. Hope another network picks up Moonlight.

#45 Colleen on 06.21.08 at 11:30 am

I AM WITH MOST EVERYONE ON HERE. I DON’T KNOW WHAT CBS WAS THINKING WHEN IT CANCLED MOONLIGHT. THAT WAS THE BEST SHOW ON THE NETWORK. DIDN’T IT WIN FOR THE PEOPLES CHOICE FOR BEST NEW DRAMA. CBS REALLY SCREWED UP. MICK IS THE BEST. THE SHOW WAS SO FUN TO WATCH. AND WOMAN’S MURDER CLUB. THAT WAS GREAT. WHO IS PICKING THE SHOWS AT CBS? COME ON “CHRISTINE” AGAIN. THAT SHOW HAS NEVER BEEN GOOD.

#46 Andie on 06.22.08 at 6:20 pm

Ahhhh, you’ve got to be kidding me… Christine …. please. I absolutely cannot believe CBS took Moonlight and Shark off the Fall schedule. Whoever they have making these decisions really really needs to rethink this one or should I say these two. If not, I guess I’ll be looking at ABC, NBC or Fox on Wed from 8-9 and of course the only thing decent on Monday is Two and a Half Men. Thank goodness they left that alone.

#47 Cierra on 06.22.08 at 6:28 pm

You people SUCK!! I can’t believe you’re taking off my show… Moonlight is the BOMB!! What are you people at CBS smoking?!?! I really like this show! It’s probably the only local station show I watch! Thank goodness for satellite! Also, reality TV BITES! It’s the same stuff season after season, just with different people, but still the same. The Amazing Race is the only one that’s any good anyway.

#48 Julianna on 06.22.08 at 7:57 pm

How the hell could they cancel Shark???? It was the best show that station had. At least they kept part of Friday night in tact - but Shark??? James Woods deserved better.

They blew it!

#49 Connie on 06.23.08 at 7:48 am

Two decent shows Moonlight and Shark. Your fall line up needs a transfusion. I looked forward to these shows even over Ugly Betty. Now back to Betty, turn your back’s on CBS everyone in the TV audience. Reality is it’s cheaper to produce reality and low budget, bad acting. B movies are being replace with C TV. Where did I put that antenna, I don’t need to watch when I don’t have a “box”.

#50 heather on 06.25.08 at 6:52 pm

I can not beleive that they cancled moonlight and rules of engagment. i have lost all my faith in cbs. guess its back to nbc.

#51 mstailey on 06.25.08 at 7:21 pm

They didn’t cancel “Rules of Engagement.” It’ll be back at midseason.

#52 Juli on 06.25.08 at 9:59 pm

Moonlight was another favorite. Bill Paley used to stand behind his network when I worked for KCBS (then KNXT) in Los Angeles, that sure doesn’t matter anymore. Especially when they have the great actors - they would rather put on this stream of trite game shows and reality tv - I feel like they’re headed back to the 50’s. If that’s the case, please resurect Dinah Shore, Judy Garland and start with the Variety Shows. Nobody did it better then Ed.

#53 Mog on 06.27.08 at 6:07 am

Can’t believe you cancelled Moonlight and Shark!!!! CBS is loosing viewers steadily and now you take off shows that everyone really likes so you lose more viewers. Moonlight and Shark go to USA….. The USA network has more sense about what good programming is than the programmers at CBS. Your line up gets worse and worse. Get your programmers to listen to what viewers you have left and get these programs back!

#54 Adrian on 06.27.08 at 7:36 am

Shark, Moonlight, and Jericho all gone. There is absolutely no reason to EVER watch this station.

#55 Adri on 06.27.08 at 8:20 pm

Ok what ever happend with CANE? Sorry But I liked that show and I think that it lost a good chance of being a hit because of the strike. Also really who wants to watch a show about some lady trying to get married. Also I would rather watch JERICHO I like the Partiotic feel of that show. HEY CBS do you even listen to your viewers did you forget about the peanuts. If CBS is serious about getting more female viewers then they should keep that HOTTY Mick. Really we need to have Moonlight following Ghost Whisperer it made it a great paranormal kind of night. I dont watch TV live I love to just record everything because I dont want to watch commercials seriously I just want the good stuff. My DVR is my best friend to fast forward through all those commericals. I have found that the more that CBS gets rid of good shows the more I find myself watching other networks. I have even started watching Ugly Betty that is how bad CBS is getting. Also NO MORE AMAZING RACE PLEASE. I have had it with watching people run around and make fools of themselves. Ok that is my venting for today.

#56 Rhonda Banks on 06.28.08 at 12:39 pm

WHAT ABOUT KID NATION?! I Here they’re having trouble finding a town to accomodate the little tikes. Well I’ve got a few suggestions… I hear that FDLS ‘ranch’ is good at exploiting children. Better yet, what about Neverland Ranch.

#57 Sheryl on 06.29.08 at 1:32 pm

You cancel Moonlight and replace it with the Ex-List…..come on put the crack pipe down. Bring back Moonlight!

#58 Jay Dees on 07.01.08 at 3:29 pm

The Execs at CBS cancelled Moonlight?? Just goes to show you, they don’t have the brains God gave a Bat.

#59 Juli on 07.01.08 at 5:22 pm

No, but they have Katie Couric, need I say more???? Only thing decent on that station anymore is Cold Case, Ghost Whisperer, Numbers and CBS Sunday Morning.

Oh wait, I know what it is - they have Jerry Bruckheimer sewn at the hip - must be kick back time.

#60 M Sherwood on 07.01.08 at 7:29 pm

Cancel Moonlight? What’s up with that??? I guess good programming isn’t the goal anymore. If it gets picked up by another network….bye bye CBS!

#61 Gregg on 07.02.08 at 4:51 pm

CBS SUCKS for CANCELLING MOONLIGHT. GOODBYE CBS! ABC and NBC here we come!

#62 eve/sparky on 07.03.08 at 12:48 am

Moonlight???? that was just ANGEL-revampt….I am glad that the big bang theory and HIMYM are back…Those 2 shows are smart comedies… I understand everyones’ anger regarding your favorite show being cancelled. I am glad that my two favorite shows are back…ps Gary will return to CSI and not in flashbacks lol, aslo Sarah will return for a few shows……

#63 Juli on 07.03.08 at 8:22 am

I hate sitcoms! After Murphy Brown, that was it for me.

#64 Roocy on 07.04.08 at 2:37 pm

CBS is soooo CSI & NCIS & Survivor heavy, that I rarely watch the network anymore, the only thing interesting on the Fall lineup to me is The Mentalist and that’s only because I enjoy the lead actor’s work. Seriously CBS, who’s deciding your programming these past couple years???

#65 Roocy on 07.04.08 at 2:45 pm

Oops, my mistake, forgot to mention that I absolutely LOVE Swingtown… those were my childhood years so this show fits the bill, perfectly, nostalgic and enlightening (at least now I know what the adults were really talking about!).

#66 kacy on 07.05.08 at 9:39 am

cannot believe they cancelled my two favorite shows:Shark and Moonlight! come on CBS bring them back.

#67 annoyed viewer on 07.06.08 at 10:31 am

CBS… ARE YOU ON CRACK!? How can you cancel Moonlight after it won the People’s Choice Award for new tv drama?! People’s Choice means that PEOPLE LIKE IT AND WANT TO SEE IT!!! THIS IS WHY PEOPLE HATE CBS!!!! You’re fools! Do you have monkeys running your network? GET A GRIP!

#68 Shena on 07.06.08 at 1:59 pm

I cannot believe that Moonlight is not coming back, it was my absolute favorite show. What in the world was CBS thinking?????

#69 Alan Woodin on 07.09.08 at 12:54 pm

Come on Les Moonves, you have got to give us Shark, Moonlight and Cane. They are wonderful shows. Us Baby Boomers want these shows back.

#70 Cathy on 07.09.08 at 3:47 pm

Is Dexter coming back this Fall to CBS?

#71 CVZ on 07.09.08 at 4:02 pm

Please, please, please, don’t cancel Moonlight. I looked forward to that show all week long. I guess I will have to watch another network. I just don’t see how that show ex-list would appeal to women more than Moonlight. Please bring back Shark too.

#72 Michael Stailey on 07.09.08 at 5:59 pm

“Is Dexter coming back this Fall to CBS?”

When I interviewed Julie Benz several weeks ago, there were no set plans to bring Season Two of Dexter to CBS. However, if something on the new Fall schedule falters, don’t be surprised if you see it show up as a replacement series.

#73 BL on 07.11.08 at 10:30 am

Moonlight was my favorite show…I can’t believe you cancelled it after one season.

#74 Lorre on 07.11.08 at 10:40 am

How could you cancel Cane? I’m tired of the same old BS on TV, at least Cane had drama, sex (married man faithful to his wife) and family values. It appealed to every adult age with the range of veteren actors and new comers to the screen, the talent and visual effects were of interest. Last but not least I’m tired of the pasty faced white folks on every other channel. It was great seeing different ethnicities on television other than Black Americans and Hispanic Americans (most of those shows were not on the traditional major networks). When the station heads or whomever decides the cancellation of shows make their decisions how about asking JOE Q PUBLIC and I mean other than white middle america. The rest of us would like to have a say so on what’s available to watch on television. A middle class, middle aged Black women.

#75 Nancy on 07.11.08 at 1:55 pm

I agree with with most of the people that made comments. CBS almost had the best line up. I cannot believe you cancelled Moonlight & Shark & Cane. I hate the freaking reality shows. Not just one, all of them. Life is hard enough without all that crap, all those stupid shows. Old Christine, give me breaks. I much soon as watch ice melt. Swingtown, you have to be scraping the bottom of the barrel. You know most people over 50 watch TV at night. Love NCIS, all CSI, Criminal Mines, Ghost Whisper, Cold Case. Bring back Moonlight, Shark and put in a movie of the week like the Jessie Stone movies and you will have a winning season.

#76 CBS SUCKS on 07.11.08 at 3:19 pm

i’m so freaking sick of cbs and their canceling show freak exec’s. I hope they get fired. The have canceled way too many of my favorite shows, Jericho, Shark, Moonlight and Cane. I freakin’ hate this network. They suck. As for their F!#$ING reality shows; I hope the execs burn in hell for allowing that crap to continue.

#77 Michelle on 07.11.08 at 3:36 pm

WHAT THE FREAKING HELL. HOW CAN CBS REPLACE MOONLIGHT!!! AND FOR SOME GAY TAROT CARD SHOW. IF THEY WANT A BIGGER FEMALE AUDIENCE THEN THEY HAVE TO KEEP MOONLIGHT. THIS MAKES ME WANT TO BOYCOTT CBS.

#78 carol on 07.11.08 at 6:29 pm

i cant believe you cancelled moonlight do you people care what we want hope you enjoy the unemployment line cause you keep cancelling shows people want thats where tour going to be

#79 Whoopi on 07.11.08 at 10:12 pm

I am just glad NCIS and The Unit are coming back. I was really worried. Sounds like the selection of shows for the fall line up was based on studio politics rather than quality shows.

#80 Ritamae Sampson on 07.12.08 at 3:18 pm

The Friday night line-up has been perfect the way it was bring back Moonlight. Mick and Beth have a bunch of fans in North Carolina. We feel it would be a mistake to not bring them back. At least move them to Saturday nights in order to keep the shows you already have lined-up. Having two hous of 48 hours with Moonlight on Saturdays would be great!!

#81 Leeaz383 on 07.13.08 at 11:37 am

Yes!!! BRING BACK MOONLIGHT!!! That was a GREAT show!!! Made for a PERFECT Friday night!!!. Now I’m gonna have to start hitting the mute button on Friday night again. And I don’t care what CBS puts in that middle time-slot, I won’t watch it out of protest for Moonlight being gone!!!

#82 Trisha Boyd on 07.14.08 at 6:03 am

I get three channels where I live, rising gas prices mean I can’t afford cable or satellite anymore.

The channel that comes in worst is CBS. But I was willing to sit thru a snowy channel that I could barely see so I could watch Jericho and Moonlight. Guess my TV watching goes back to the PBS. At least they listen to their viewers, because we’re the ones paying their bills. And their channel is crystal clear.

Another thing, they want me to subscribe to their WATCH magazine. When now the only show I’d watch is NCIS. Please!

#83 Sav on 07.14.08 at 11:20 am

You cancelled SHARK!!! Fantastic show, it was almost better than CSI. Actually it would have been better now that Warick is gone. Bring back James Woods please!!!

#84 dc2wife on 07.14.08 at 1:34 pm

I’m so glad the Unit is coming back.. knowing this just made my day.. thank you cbs

#85 Ramie C on 07.14.08 at 1:57 pm

I agree with Most of the other people, Moonlight and Cane were 2 of the best shows on TV!!!! I’m very dissapointed with CBS for these cancelations….

#86 Chris on 07.14.08 at 4:22 pm

What kind of crazy is CBS experiencing? They canceled Shark .. Bad Idea!! They CANCELED MOONLIGHT .. Absolutely Awful Idea. That show was fantastic. It was a great fit on the friday night line up! If CBS doesn’t get a clue and renew it then I hope another network will pick it up. That will be the network I’ll be watching!!! As for that stupid Ex-List .. I don’t have a problem changing the channel after Ghost Whisper and turn back when Numbers comes on. After all :) that is what a remote control is for.

#87 dj on 07.14.08 at 6:56 pm

from what I understand they want females to watch cbs they took off moonlight and females did watch it when sports did not over ride it and then cbs wonders why the rating was bad on moonlight females for the most part don’t watch sports and this new show swingtown they can take that off and keep moonlight.
swingtown is bad show and not for kids at all it will teach them all the things we try to keep away from them

#88 Rick on 07.15.08 at 1:52 am

Here we go again.CBS HAD a winning lineup for the most
part.Wam bam a new season and they (cbs)take the opportunity to totally screw the viewers.I agree with the majority….Moonlighting and Shark. To hell with you.
You don`t respect us, why should we be satisfied with the garbage you attempt to “entertain”us.With all the commercial`s that are rammed down our throat`s I would think your aim would be to keep viewer`s.Guess what……….I`m gone.No more CBS…………Idiot`s!

#89 Jen on 07.15.08 at 6:02 am

Moonlight was my favorite show of last season. I loved it so much, that I even downloaded every show from ITunes and have watched them over and over. I can’t believe that CBS has dropped it. Christine is another one of my faves as well as Rules of Engagement. I see that they are retaining these for now but I don’t agree with the move of Christine to Wednesday’s and I think they need to place Rules of Engagement as a season starter, not a mid season filler. I, too am considering no longer watching CBS. They obviously do not value my viewing preferences.

#90 Margaret Parsons on 07.16.08 at 5:57 am

I think I will join others and CBS will be off our watching list. I asked before in a letter and never received an answer and will ask again - let me see the Nielson ratings on who is not watching SHARK and JERICHO and who is watching these other shows. From the fan comments, doesn’t seem to be the consensus. I have given my e-mail - let me know. I want SHARK AND JERICHO FOR good family real life TV drama shows.

#91 Frustrated on 07.16.08 at 5:12 pm

Rethink the cancelled shows. Remember the strike has something to do with the ratings.

#92 ZONDRIA on 07.16.08 at 6:24 pm

I’m with so many other people here CBS has FUCKED UP!!!!!!! I only watch TV on Fridyas so that I can see Ghoast Whisper and MOONLIGHT and you go and cancel the show. Then you move Shark to Sundays and that was one of my shows also and it’s not coming back. How the hell do you plan on keeping your viewers if you keep canceling all of your good shows. I could care less about any other show your network has on besides the SOAP OPERAS so you really need to bring back Shark and Moonlight.

#93 ZONDRIA on 07.16.08 at 6:25 pm

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#94 Gary C on 07.17.08 at 5:15 pm

For whatever it’s worth, here goes. I’m with most everyone here when it comes to trying to understand CBS’ programming choices. It’s very apparent that what the viewers want plays no part in what they decide to air. Tuesdays at 10pm must be the slot that they use as a series “hospice”, it seems that every show that winds up in that slot is soon to be gone. I think that is why Jericho ended up there when they did bring it back. They knew that it would breathe its last breath there. That way they “gave the viewers what they wanted”, but still got their way. Is “Without a Trace” next?
The next big question I have is why discard all of the shows that people want to watch and leave Saturday night to air reruns? They have enough great shows that the people want to watch in the trash heap, but keep feeding us junk that has already been aired?

Hey CBS, contrary to your opinions of us, we are not idiots!! Lose your viewers just so you can get YOUR way, sounds almost like congress!!

#95 belinda on 07.18.08 at 4:35 pm

I want my Shark

#96 GeorgiaGirl on 07.18.08 at 6:44 pm

Like everybody else, I am going to miss Moonlight. I can’t imagine what CBS was thinking. Moonlight and Ghost Whisperer was a great pairing. Don’t know who they think will watch CBS now.

#97 Ray H. on 07.19.08 at 3:14 am

CBS SUCKS YET AGAIN!!!!! Friday Nights was once again the one of the best nights on TV. Moonlight made it happen. I LOVED THAT SHOW!!!!! What happened?? Thanks for keeping NCIS, just about the only good show you have on your network besides CSI Miami, The Unit, Criminal Minds, Without A Trace, and Numbers. All of you at the CBS Network need to be fired!!!!!!

#98 Cindy on 07.20.08 at 9:10 am

Cancel Moonlight and Shark???? CBS are you mad??? You cancelled Jericho too. These are some of the best programs on tv. Guess you just want me to tune you out…. will do!

#99 Damaris on 07.20.08 at 11:07 pm

I finally begin to watch CBS after who knows how many years and here they go again losing me again. “MOONLIGHT ” was the best show that you had ON YOUR LINEUP. When I watched the first episode of MOONLIGHT I couldn’t believe that CBS had finally pick up a show that peeked my interest I couldn’t wait ’til Friday to watch another episode I was hooked. And the you go ahead and cancel MOONLIGHT for another reality show. I am a woman viewer and have no attraction NOR intention to watch The Ex-List. I am another viewer that is sick and tired of watching reality shows. I am not interested in people wanting to air their dirty laundry on television for money or attention. GET A LIFE PEOPLE. WHAT A WASTE.

#100 Laraine on 07.21.08 at 6:50 am

So I guess it’s true CBS does stand for Causes Boredom and Sleep. I finally have a great show again in Moonlight and you take it off for some stupid show about a woman needing to marry (that alone is an insult). I can’t believe that any woman or human being for that matter will have any interest in this show. I thought taking off Jericho was your worst move but you managed to top it.
What exactly does CBS have against great drama series?
Way to go again CBS!

#101 Jcollelu on 07.21.08 at 5:34 pm

I can’t believe you canceled CANE!!! What is wrong with you!

#102 Sharon on 07.23.08 at 12:33 am

I am not feeling the love CBS…I thought the viewers were an important part of what shows would stay on your fall lineup. I agree that Ghost Whisper & then Moonlight were coupled together in perfect harmony. So many shows are all the same with the same story lines that it was so refreshing to see a new hip show on TV. Losing Moonlight is just another stupid move made from mindless high corp people who are not listening to the masses!! The Ex-List…What the ….why are we replacing Moonlight with this show?!! Did it win the People’s Choice Award?! I thought not… Get a clue & give the people what they want. Without us (the viewers) you are nothing. We can only hope another network is smart enough to pick this great show up!!!
I will boycott that Friday night time slot!!! We are Moonlight Addicts that need our Fix!!! LISTEN!!!

#103 CATHY on 07.23.08 at 9:48 am

You people at CBS have no idea how much I looked forward to Friday nights to watch Ghost Whisperer, Moonlight, and Numbers. Also, I looked forward to watching Shark. I cannot believe that you are taking away my favorites. I used to also enjoy Close to Home. With all of the reality and news shows on the other networks, CBS was a good alternative.

Guess I’ll have to find a new network to watch.

#104 Stephanie on 07.25.08 at 5:18 pm

Here’s one more outcry for the canceling of Moonlight. After a hard work week, Friday was my night to escape with a vampire :-). How exactly was the decision made?? Looks like I’ll be joining Cathy and others as we find another network to watch. I guess they’ll figure it out when there is no one watching CBS on Friday’s anymore–idiots.

#106 Moonligh lover, and family on 07.27.08 at 9:34 am

We can’t believe that CBS canceled moonlight. From now on NONE of my family nor my friends will be watching CBS as a result of the cancellation. I hope that when they see the declining ratings they will realise, that moonlight was the life of this chanel

#107 Insult to injury on 07.27.08 at 9:38 am

Also replacing it with the Ex-list was just adding insult to injury my mother is a single mom, and happy about it. The Ex-list seems extremely sexist, and should not be promoted on the air

#108 Andrea on 07.27.08 at 3:46 pm

I can’t believe CBS cancelled Moonlight and Sahrk, two of my favorite shows. I was so looking forward to the Fall so I could see these 2 shows, 2 of my favorites. I think that CBS needs to rethink this decision. It appears that many other people share my opinion! Good Luck! I will be looking to another networks to watch TV!

#109 Dot on 07.27.08 at 4:51 pm

OK I think I now know why CBS took off MOONLIGHT ,
they did not want a law suite , So they blame it on the rating that we all know was very good .But at the same time the show was to much like forever nightand they did not want to get sued for plagerizum. forever night was a hit on another network .but I and my Family want Moonlight back.not thing swing town trash on teleivion

#110 Remyr on 07.27.08 at 5:13 pm

What they cancelled SHARK!! We love this show. I thought they would be bringing this back this fall. We never failed to watch SHARK since it’s such a great show I love James Wood’s character. CBS what were you thinking!!! I know a lot loves Moonlight..however, I can’t help but compare it to Forever Knight..it is so similar.

#111 christy on 07.27.08 at 6:58 pm

I cann’t believe that your cacelling two great shows Moonlight and Shark. They were both written and had great casts people who we loved to watch(James Wood’s chareter was serious and had a comic side we laughed and cried at times) Too bad that CBS no longer wants their fans to stay with the network for years instead of just a couple of weeks. I guess I’ll be looking at NBC more they seam to treat thier fans with more repect.

#112 Celia on 07.29.08 at 7:36 am

You people SUck!!!! Moonlight had me hooked, now what the hell am i supposed to do friday nights. Cmon people, listen to your viewers!!! Bring Moonlight back!!!

#113 Kelly on 07.29.08 at 10:03 am

I’m pretty happy with it…Monday is great except that Rules of Engagement is gone…will to look forward to that midseason. I love Criminal Minds, CSI: NY and Numb3rs… yea CBS!

#114 Robin on 07.29.08 at 4:52 pm

I am pretty happy with the fall lineup, except for Rules of Engagement only getting a half season. My husband and I love the show. I am so excited about NCIS coming back. I was worried that it was being cancelled. I am getting very bored with the New Adventures of Old Christine. Will there be new episodes or will the old ones be repeated? I also really enjoy Two and a Half Men. I can’t wait to see the new ones. My husband and I really enjoy Cold Case and Criminal Minds, also. They are both so intriguing

#115 Tom on 07.29.08 at 5:36 pm

Moonlight was about the only thing worth watching on Friday. Don’t comp;ain to CBS, complain to their sponsors. That is where the money is. When we the viewers want something, we need to express it to the sponsors and let CBS know that we have done so.

#116 Kimberley on 07.29.08 at 6:46 pm

I am VERY upset about cbs cancelling Moonlight. Up here in the great Northwest when its dark and rainy on Friday nights theres nothing better than to curl up in front of the fire and catch the latest Moonlight after Ghost Whisperer. Boy you guys really know how to betray your loyal viewers. Bad move….

#117 Linda on 07.29.08 at 8:30 pm

GOSH!! My mind is still reeling over the fact that Las Vegas was canceled. When they leave you with cliff hangers, they should at least bring closure to the show that they are terminating by making a final episode that has a happy ever after ending. Now onto my next gripe. HOW DARE YOU TAKE OFF CANE, SHARK AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST JERICO. So many people that did not watch the first season of Jerico finally got in on the action after the peanut ploy. These people wanted to see what they had been missing. AND YES, you did gain more viewers after this. Get rid of ex list, christina (her days are numbered anyway you look at it), and Gary. Most people have tivo or some other recording device they could use on saturday nights and would love to record some of thier favs that you have canceled. I am open to alternatives EXCEPT DRAMA REPEATS on Saturday. One of my biggest pet peeves is NUMBERS. You take an hour long show, remove the commercials, now you have a 45 min show and in that 45 minutes, it is all double talk. They say one thing and then have to say it in lamens talk. So now you have a 22 1/2 minute program. Just cut the crap talk and go for 30 min. and do your stupid christina for 30 minutes and there you go. yoo Hoo, you have an extra hour to put one of our shows back.
Does anyone have any idea how the peanut deal went with CBS. Perhaps we could do it again. Let me know if you have any ideas. Maybe we could send them cotton from Georgia. It is light weight but I dont know the cost. However since CBS has proven time and time again how dumb they are they would use the cotton to make fake snow. The last comment that I would like to address is to Lorre. Above you will find her comments. Lorre, just for your information. I am pure white cracker. You make it sound like CBS and people of my breed did not like Cane because of the ethnic people on the show. I assure you my dear, this definately is not the case for the middle white America. I mean take a look at Sanford and Son, The Jeffersons, I could go on and on. Middle white America makes up most of the veiwing habits that a show has. These shows were on the air for years and thrived. This is not an ethnic problem, it is a ignorant CBS executive problem. We need to come together and not make this a racial thing. We will definately get more accomplished. AAAAAND THAT IS THE END OF MY OPINION.

#118 Jericho hottie on 07.30.08 at 5:37 am

cbs you have completely been locked out of my channel line up Moonlight and Jericho gone? WTF are you out of your nuts? Shall we send some more. I am truly ashamed of anyone who watches cbs for whatever reason. What will us moonlighters and bomb watchers do? Think about it cbs you are going to go bankrupt after you lose so many viewers

#119 hazel on 07.31.08 at 12:21 pm

I have never been a fan of CBS nightime television. Then finally you came out with 3 television programs that I loved. Moonlighting, Cane, and Ghost Whispers. Once again I am disaapointed by television because this seems to happen whenever there is a good program on. Also what makes it so bad is they never have closure. Meaning the show will go off for the season and you think it is going to return and then the writers do not even come up with an episode to end the program. I will not watch CBS programs.

#120 Barbara on 07.31.08 at 4:02 pm

Okay, CBS did one thing right, at least they left Ghost Whisperer. So much for my Friday night line up. Getting rid of Moonlight was a BIG mistake. My family was addicted to it from episode one. The one good thing about Fall coming is the new episodes and than you cancel our favorite! Hope some heads roll for that decision and hopefully another station will be smart and pick it up!!!!!!

#121 mary on 08.01.08 at 4:43 am

I am a girl and I am very upset Moonlight is cancelled for that dumb other show and I also agree, the Adventures of Old Christine is so sickening I will not watch it.
I loved Moonlight.

#122 Esmarelda on 08.02.08 at 6:03 am

Reality shows need to go. We watch TV to escape reality. I watch for comedies and so far CBS is the only network with any worth watching. Good thing I have 250 other channels to choose from and am not relagated to this crap they are serving up as entertainment. Too bad the exec’s don’t listen to the public, or read these boards.

#123 Stephanie on 08.03.08 at 6:57 am

Shark was a GREAT show - if the so-called ratings dropped it’s because you people have to move shows around throughout the season and dedicated viewers have a hard time keeping up with what day & time slot it went to next. With the writer’s strike no shows should have been cancelled that helped mess up ratings. BRING BACK SHARK!

#124 motherhen4jc on 08.05.08 at 12:09 pm

The best decision CBS made was bringing The Unit back! That show and NCIS are my favorite two shows on CBS. My husband and I were very disappointed when there were no signs of The Unit coming back. CBS, you have redeemed yourself!

#125 Cindy on 08.05.08 at 6:53 pm

I’d just like to say that I wish they would bring Shark back. I’d also like the Unit to be on after NCIS on Tuesdays.
