This week in the 212 area code, Gossip Girl just reeks of betrayals. But I don’t feel betrayed – I feel alive! The episode was pretty good, and there is now a whole lot of turmoil in Manhattan for this privileged crew. This episode was touted as a sort of “blackout” episode, as most of the scenes happen during a city-wide power outage. We’re now left with lots of intriguing, unanswered questions, the best state a show can be in. Put on your Chanel eye mask if you don’t want to read any spoilers.
As women occasionally do, they’re used to getting their way and their money’s worth. In Catherine’s—the Duchess’s—case, her object of obsession is Nate, who feels the thrill of seeing an older woman wearing off. To get out from under her (both figuratively and literally), he asks Chuck to relend him the money that he originally offered. Unfortunately, Chuck has made other arrangements. Scheming Blair invites Vanessa, Nate’s sometimes date to a party where she knows Catherine will be in attendance. Vanessa and Catherine chat about what Catherine will do to keep Nate, including informing the FBI on the whereabouts of Nate’s father.
Short but sweet: Dan and Serena finally hash out the reasons why they shouldn’t be together and decide to end it for good. And Jenny (a.k.a. Little J), Dan’s sister, is fired from Eleanor Waldorf’s fashion crew. Lights-out to the rescue! A little time talking with the designer in the dark earns Jenny a reprieve.
Oh, and Chuck can’t get it up; Blair’s the only girl for him. And seeing as how Marcus hasn’t exactly approached sex with Blair, which upsets Blair a bit, when Chuck walks into Blair’s bedroom, she doesn’t exactly tell him to get out. But Marcus walks in. Whatever will he think? She’ll blow him some X’s and O’s, and it’ll be all good.
