Cromartie seems to be getting the hang of setting better traps for Sarah Connor and friends. In “The Mousetrap,” Season 2, Episode 3, of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Sarah, Charley, and Reese beat a path to Cromartie’s door after he kidnaps Charley’s wife. Keeping with the theme, Cromartie builds a bomb with mousetraps and discusses the history of the device as he sets his plan into motion.
Nice touches tonight include a parody of sword-and-sorcery epics on the TV (conjuring memories of Conan and Arnold Schwarzenegger), John and new friend Riley discussing magazines and personalities (calling each other “Yarn Collector” and “Cat Fancy”), and Cameron’s deep concern about the house moving 9.3 millimeters per year.
Naturally, Sarah suspects it’s a trap and decides not to tell John. This, of course, means that he’s caught unaware when it turns out to be a trap. Not sure why Cromartie needs a gun when chasing John. Maybe he thought it would look less conspicuous to wave a handgun on a busy pier? Kinda makes sense. Still wondering which side the new Terminatrix will turn out to be on.
Nahh, I don’t think I’d ever have tuned in if not for the writers’ strike, but a few more episodes like tonight’s could keep me watching.
