News

Apologies for the delay.  I’ve been having TV troubles.

After five years, you’d think that they’d be running out of freaky medical conditions, and for a brief moment, when Taub suggested that toxins had built up in the patient’s fat cells, I thought they had finally repeated themselves.

Silly me.

The guy had–wait for it–a hairball.

But while everybody is trying to figure out that their patient is Bill the Cat, House’s new BFF, Lucas the PI, is going around trying to dig up dirt on the team as well as Cuddy. Apparently, Kutner is in the Guinness Book of Records for crawling 20 miles.  More intriguing to House is the discovery that Taub’s wife has socked away almost $100,000 in a secret account.  What must she be up to, House wonders.

The patient has been participating in drug trials so that he won’t have to tell his girlfriend that he hasn’t been selling any paintings.  Seeing the patient’s guilt gets to Taub, who has cheated on his wife on several occasions.  When his wife presents him with the car, he tells her that they have to talk.  Is House manipulating Taub just because he can, or does he have something else in mind?  I’m curious where they go with this particular thread.

Lucas, trying to find dirt on Cuddy, hires Lucas to find dirt on House, and since Lucas kinda has the hots for Cuddy, he gives her an obviously photoshopped picture of House as a cheerleader in college.  Only at the end of the show we find out that the photo is legit.  Yeah, it’s kinda convoluted; just go with it.

But the real fun is watching Lucas and House interact; they interact on a more direct level than House and Wilson did, which makes for some intersting exchanges.  Lucas tends to see through House’s schemes quickly, which means that at some point House is just going to have to try and run an ultimate scam job on him.

This season is shaping up nicely, largely because the POTW, while compelling, have tended to stay in the background, while the real action is going on inside House’s head.  The game of last season was interesting, but in the long run, it told us little about House we didn’t already know.  This season, on the other hand, they appear to be exploring the character.

Looks like Cuddy might be getting an actual storyline. what with the Lucas geek-charm and all.

OK, that’ll have to be it for this time.  Next week though, House’s father dies and House has to give a eulogy.  Making things even more interesting, House’s mom has apparently asked Wilson to make sure that House actually shows up.  ROAD TRIP!!
