One of these days, someone will break the new Guinness record for longest stint watching movies, but it won’t be me.
On Thursday, I set aside an evening to actually watch that Jacques Tati marathon on TCM (mentioned in a previous post). I got to see Jour de Fete for the first time, a real treat, and then rewatched Mr. Hulot’s Holiday and Mon Oncle. So far, so good. At 1:15 A.M., Playtime began, with Mr. Hulot wandering around Paris. I nodded off early on, waking up near the end as the restaurant was falling apart. Turns out three at a sitting’s my limit, even for Tati.
Suresh Joachim and Claudia Wavra, who won the Netflix Popcorn Bowl, lasted more than 123 hours through 57 movies, with 10-minute gaps in between, according to Netflix’s press release at Yahoo! Finance. It only mentions a few of the titles, which included Iron Man and Thelma & Louise.
