Fox announces its Fall and Winter schedules today, with not a great deal of change from 2008. Fans of JJ Abrams’ Fringe and Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse will be happy to see their shows return for sophomore seasons. Seth MacFarlane increases his grip on Sunday nights with the introduction of Family Guy spinoff The Cleveland Show. The only other new entry is the sitcom Brothers, starring former NY Giants’ defensive end and current Fox commentator Michael Strahan. The show’s 13 episode run centers on Strahan’s relationship with his wheelchair bound brother (Daryl Chill Mitchell, Ed) and their mother (CCH Pounder, The Shield). Fox is bustin’ a big move on Tuesday’s by making So You Think You Can Dance? their companion to American Idol, which will return for its ninth season in January, with or without Simon Cowell.

Speaking of the winter, Fox opens up the schedule a bit with the introduction of three midseason replacements. Human Target revives the old DC Comics character with Watchmen’s Jackie Earle Haley and Pushing Daisies‘ Chi McBride fronting the action. Reaper’s Tyler Labine fronts the family comedy Sons of Tucson, in which three brothers hire a small-time hustler to play their dad, while their real father is in jail. And finally West Wing’s Richard Schiff headlines the paranormal drama Past Lives which follows a group of investigators who utilize their client’s past lives to help solve cases.
When other networks are cleaning house for increasing costs and low ratings, it’s nice to see Fox standing beside some of their fan favorites.

A Human Target show? Really? Heh. Never thought I would see that happen. I like both lead actors; I’ll definitely have to give it a look.

House
Woah, what a relief!!
22. May 2009 at 11:30 am
I do not see “Lie To Me” – a good show – on the winter schedule. Glad to see that 24 and Bones will be back.

Years ago, TV shows had 30 plus episodes, now we’re down to 22, but even more networks are handing out orders for only 12 or 13. This way they keep a fresh rotation of shows throughout the year. The trouble is, you can be left with a gap of nine months or more between one season and another of a show and that makes it hard to hold an audience.

They got rid of one of the best shows they had: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Terrible decision Fox! With the Terminator salvation movie coming out and all. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! Glad that House will continue
27. May 2009 at 7:50 am
Well fox lost my viewing for Terminator The Sarah Chronicles are not in the line-up good luck to them
2. June 2009 at 3:31 pm
I see that Terminator: Sarah Connor isnt back. Come on FOX!!. This show is a million times better than Dollhouse. I do have to say I was impressed with Glee. And Fringe is great. Please bring back Terminator!!!!!!!
3. June 2009 at 1:04 pm

6. June 2009 at 7:20 pm
Please Cancel Dollhouse, bring back termaniator.
13. July 2009 at 2:43 pm
are they keeping glee for sure? cause i enjoyed the early episode they showed this spring.
22. July 2009 at 12:26 pm
I really don’t know why they cancelled Terminator. It probably didn’t have the highest numbers, but what do you expect from an 8/7 P.M. Friday night show? If Dollhouse got better numbers, it was only due to it being on later and people coming home from Friday night activities. These networks keep chasing numbers from the years before everyone had cable, there is so much out there to choose from now and they will not get the old numbers they used to get! Poor decession on keep Dollhouse and cancelling Terminator.
27. July 2009 at 3:30 pm
Yes, Terminator was great. I couldn’t believe it was cancelled.
29. July 2009 at 2:53 pm
DOLLHOUSE IS NOT THAT GREAT. THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES IS BY FAR A MUCH BETTER SERIES. FOX REALLY MESSED UP THIS TIME. GUESS I WILL HAVE TO WATCH ABC, CBS, NBC OR CABLE. WHAT A WASTE, NO TERMINATOR.
5. August 2009 at 7:57 am
No Sara Connor on FOX. That SUX. Looks like Fringe is the only show I’ll be watching on FOX. That’s pathetic.

Dollhouse is AWFUL – I was so lost after two episodes I just gave up. 2 showings of Cops on Saturday??? I thought they stopped filming Cops years ago… Does ANYBODY watch this for anything other than occasional comic relief? I cannot believe that the company that brings us the FoxNews channel would bring such a SHABBY unintelligent line-up for network broadcast. Sara Connor rules and FOX will rue the day it cancelled that show and went downhill with the 30 minute sitcoms. I’ve even sworn off Family Guy since the whole last season was nothing more than political endoctrination. I expect the same from The Cleveland Show – also by Seth McFarlane – so that’s a no-go from the start. While I enjoyed most of American Dad, I can’t see myself interrupting a good night for one 30-minute show. Thank goodness for FoxNews, HBO, Showtime, and Starz. True Blood, Nurse Jackie, Dexter, Big Love – and more cutting edge shows that I’m sure I’m leaving out – are going to leave the networks in the dust. After over ten years of not watching network tv AT ALL, I returned two years ago when I heard the hooplah around a few shows. Reality had taken over but Sara saved me from that and admittedly Survivor and the Amazing Race were decent. This year, I’ve lined up everything on an Excel spreadsheet and here are the few shows I’ll be watching: Heroes, Fringe, The Mentalist and Brothers & Sisters. I used to be a Ghost Whisperer fan till last season when those writers screwed that show up. Thank GOD I got a Kindle to read through this dreary season of non-intellect television. Can you networks understand us? WE HATE YOU! You cancel shows which make us think and you give us news that indoctrinates us! WE HATE YOU! Thanks for the 5 – count em – shows that I’ll be watching this season. How SICK you have become.

16. August 2009 at 10:46 am

16. August 2009 at 7:58 pm

18. August 2009 at 5:24 am
Please bring back Sarah Connor. Give it a decent time slot and you’ll get your numbers. It was an excellent show.
18. August 2009 at 7:56 pm
All I care about is The Thursday Night line up…. Im obsessed with Bones and Fringe. I love thursdays. All the other shows are blah. BONES IS THE GREATEST SHOW EVER MADE!!. What a combination of characters. They put together the best team I have seen in a show since Friends. They are feed off of each others character personalities with their own unique sense of Type A personalities in a hilarious manner. Kathy Reich, thank you. Your amazing. (So is David Boreanez) Ive grown up with him and now he plays the man of my dreams. Where is my David? hehehehe.

26. August 2009 at 5:07 pm
Glad to see my fav’s will be back: House, Lie to Me, Bones, Fridge. Wondering why Lie to Me has less episodes and being replaced in the Winter with 24.
27. August 2009 at 5:03 pm
What a shame to lose one of the few shows we found turning on the tv made worthwhile. Sarah Connor Chronicles was a very entertaining show.
28. August 2009 at 3:56 pm
glad to see fringe made it…………………………..love it.
1. September 2009 at 10:36 am
Who is the genius that decided to put Fringe up against csi? I love both shows and sadly I have to record Fringe and watch CSI. Genius!! NOT!! And why isn’t Lie to me in the winter line up?

The only intelligent, well acted show you had was The Sarah Connor Chronicles. You just didn’t stand behind it & have it the worst time slot! Doll House sux & that’s comings from a Wheadon fan! PLEASE bring back TSCC!!!
7. September 2009 at 6:47 pm
I agree… bring back the Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles and put it on a decent night and you’ll get ratings. FOX seems to have a problem with taking shows that do well and moving them to other nights. I don’t think they stop to think that moving a show sometimes causes conflicts in viewers schedules whether its work (yea there are some people out there that work nights) or another show they favor. They did what every network does, kill a show by moving it to a Friday night. They killed Boston Public long ago by doing the same thing. Other networks have done it, UPN killed Star Trek Enterprise by moving it to a Friday night, NBC killed Knight Rider by doing the same – just a couple examples. Frankly, the only ratings FOX will get from my household is just when Simpsons and Family Guy are on, other than that I’ll still with the non-networks on satellite.
Bring back Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles, if anything, for 1/2 a season to at least wrap up the television series. You’ve sparked anger and resentment from your viewers not just because you canceled the show but also because you basically left the series hanging with a cliffhanger.
If FOX isn’t interested, can you not release your Rights to the show and have it produced and broadcast on the SyFy network?
Well that is my two-cents worth, I seriously doubt anything we write on here is EVER read by anyone from the network. Especially when this website isn’t even FOX.com
16. September 2009 at 12:16 pm
FOX REALLY MISSED ON THIS ONE. SARA CONNER CHRINOCILES CANCELLED. I THINK IT NEEDED A BETTER TIME SLOT.
17. September 2009 at 4:06 pm
Half the cast has moved on to new shows already. Summer Glau will be on Dollhouse, Brian Austin Green on Smallville, Stephanie Jacobsen on Melrose Place. Lena Headey is going to an HBO drama. Just Thomas Dekker out there doing movies, I guess.
21. September 2009 at 7:43 pm
sookie is my favorite character in true blood
25. September 2009 at 11:17 am
