Following up on an urgent text from the prophet Chuck, the brothers find themselves at…a Supernatural convention. Dumbfounded at the number of LARPing (Google it) Sams and Deans and even a Yellow-Eyed Demon, the brothers attempt to extricate themselves from the premises as soon as possible.
But wouldn’t you know–there’s a real haunting at the old hotel where the convention is being held. The spirits of some nasty kids still dwell in the halls and they’re looking to scalp some hapless nerds.
Aided by a pair of unlikely wanna-be Sam and Dean role-players, the real Sam and Dean search for the bones of the kiddie ghosts and, well, it gets down to the wire with the little bastards a hair’s breadth away from scalping the Winchesters.
The episode ends with Dean learning some interesting info from one of the Supernatural fans: the Colt wasn’t given to Lilith, but is in fact within reach.
This is another lighthearted, amusing episode and it proves that this show has a healthy sense of humor about itself. The guttural Sam and Dean impersonations were fin and the jabs at the adoring community of fans were in good taste.
At its heart, “The Real Ghostbusters” was a monster-of-the-week installment, but that’s cool–it looks like next week we get back to the Apocalyptic fireworks, which smells a lot like a cliffhanger episode rounding out the Fall batch of episodes.
